Far after dusk: The outer silence and the inner sounds. Stories of tensions and hard shells and the worlds sealed within. Friday evening city readying for weekend, a few tables in solemn decoration, a few guests a few unseen pedestrians and a late bus, empty. A door unlocked, below. And a dream at arms length, still about to find its colours. Have a soft night everyone wherever you are.

Later again, tired again or still and wondering whether some fog remained out there. An intense perception for the river the meadows the trees and bushes and those still on their way with the fading day. Skipping through tracks, hard to find resonance. Doors of a car falling shut, a loud noise echoing in the mostly silent street. Phone calls nearby, the pub in green light, shadows on the sidewalk and tempted to share a drink from a distance. Flipping through some pages instead. The need for rest the waking new dreams. Sleep tight everyone wherever you are.

Many hours later again, concluding a day devoid of real structure. Things one needs to get used to. Across the street, some more appartments removed illuminated stars and strings of lights from their windows and balconies, hinting the year's moving on quickly. A cab near the crossroad, heavy suitcases, two people, thick winter clothes and suddenly the cold making its way through the glass becomes a lot more palpable. A deep breath. Music from somewhere along the ages, in and out of hand and Tempers as an infinite loop. The art of slowing down without having been fast before. Have a calm night wherever you are.

Sunday evening mood, hours later. Heavy head dizzy mind and outlines and messages and deviations in inner roads leading the flow of thoughts astray repeatedly. Some music, perceived briefly, not really focussed. Breathing against the cough and the night. Watching the street gradually dim its windows. A wink of an eye until dawn. Sleep safe everyone wherever you are.

Later again, feeling like a lot but somehow unsure about that. Winter briefly went through again today, cold, grainy, wet, indecisive. The birds are still out there flocking in the backyard trees, leaving the night a noisy and distracting experience. Trying to reach inside for a moment, to find some calm amidst all that different swirling leaves of thoughts. Sleep well everyone wherever you are.

Night motion, hours beyond dusk and slightly dizzy. Deviations, mirrors, corners and ones own shadows on oneself and everything else. Also, elsewhere: Estimates and plans. Unmet conditions. And the oddities of behaviour displayed by software making its way out of predefined environments. No easy fix. But feels like having been there before. (Powering down. Emptying the mug. Facing cold air for a moment. Reading mind and soul for dreams. Sleep tight everyone wherever you are.)

The silence of streets close to midnight. Resting offices, a dimly lit library behind huge windowpanes. Cabs heading for the train stations, the outskirts. A tram, almost empty. Some late souls, arriving, heading on. Cold concrete, blue spotlights, a vast illuminated tree on an otherwise dark balcony. Facades and trees and too tired to pay much attention to either of those. Sleep tight everyone wherever you are.

A lot later. Breathing nights air, past the point of concluding and summing up. Wondering whether music or conversations, once ceased, leave behind different kinds of silence. Too many dreams, some soothing and mild, some contradictory and distorted. Maybe it's all about choice and focus, even in these hours of unattention. Sleep tight wherever you are.

We don't know either. A lot later and the day slowly retreats. Collections of obscurities, a list of roughly outlined tasks, relevant steps in the process still missing and unsure how to follow up. Cleaning up, just to watch things getting messy once left alone for a few moments. The miraculous aspects of complex systems to show off again. No sleep so far. There's a right time for everything maybe. Have a calm night wherever you are.

A lot later. Of stones and rocks and mountains. At least metaphorically. And then a quiet glance. Christmas decorations that made it to the windows across, and with the darkness of that little molten snow the light over there feels even warmer. Filing a few late mails while falling for old patterns, blatantly ignoring all aspirations of balancing personal and professional aspects. It's all one, after all, with all that enthusiasm and uncertainties and curiosity and doubts, and in all of this, evenings are more pleasant than mornings to be sure. Have a soft night wherever you are.

Many hours ahead, or behind. Sitting on a metaphorical bench, waiting for the soul to catch up processing the images and noises and scents of the day, still. Feeling limits to ones own vocabulary, in some situations. No matter the language. A brief glimpse across the dozing neighbourhood, a feeling of comfort in the many small yet bright windows, the alternating colours of the terrace stars, the nuances and textures of a cloudy nightsky spanning hill to hill across an urban sea of light. Heavy-headed, barely awake. Sleep tight everyone wherever you are.

Later the day again, though unsure how much. A kitchen retreat, used dishes and other kinds of leftovers and that desire to clean things up to not have them haunt another morning. Sleepy at the same time, heavy-headed and stuck in a loop for a bit watching the late shows filling that huge screen in that appartment just across. Random snippets of input. Too ephemeral to really be information, yet vivid enough to need some kind of processing and that's all these hours can't handle very well. Have a soft night wherever you are.

Very much later again. Thoughts and pulse back to normal speed. A lots of notes taken and filed for another day. A candle flickering on the windowsill, small island rocks casting archaic shadows, a strong yearning for the sea once more. Watching the street sink into sleepy darkness, late commuters returning home, old and new neighbours concluding their days, students powering down their computers and moving on to more convenient tasks. Different facets same hour and a cautious flirt with a cold bright moon. Have a pleasant night everyone wherever you are.

Very much later again. Batteries drained. The aftermath of random social encounters on too many roads. The side-effects of misbehaving technology and black boxes. Sitting in twilight breathing another night and trying to refocus on noticing the details in mood and sound and light that make the textures of the fleeing day. Considering ambitious planning and the limits of ones own capabilities. No conclusions, but an inner state vaguely unsettling. Waiting for it to disappear again. Maybe. Be safe in your sleep everyone wherever you are.

Once more, somewhere along the other end of that day. Herding different kinds of mental animals, monkeys included. Pushing back a lot of topics unsorted and unsettling, standing in the frame of the slightly opened backdoor inhaling the moist night instead. A few window dots in between the bushes, a few distant houses, sound of a small engine and a barking of dogs rolling through the village like a wave for a while, just eventually calming down. No stars no moon. Not sure about dreams yet. Have a soft night wherever you are.

Late hours. A deep breath. The silence of meadows the sky in the ash tree and a distant car accelerating, heading for a dark long highway. Stopping by, mind somewhere in between and still feeling grounded and content in the very moment. Have a safe night wherever you are.

Concluding the day, hours after dusk. Always in between arriving, getting used to and moving on again. Emptying the glass, bags packed, watching the night life find its way on cold concrete. A distant bell, unidentified music from hidden speakers. A thought and a dream, and a wink of an eye from the new morning. Sleep tight everyone wherever you are.

Many hours later. A dizzy, heavy mind, the silence to embrace hills and forests, thoughts tired from running in circles. Keeping eyes closed again, on the other side of dusk, for a moment to let the remaining senses inhale the vastness of impressions filling the night outside. Struggling to stay awake, not yet willing to conclude the day. Sleep tight everyone wherever you are.
